<p>We get this a bit, but in short (and to avoid long caffeine fuelled discussions), Mike wrote this definition on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org">WikiPedia</a> a while back, and it is really what OE is about: Content Re-appropriation <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content%20re-appropriation">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content re-appropriation</a>. Simply, the Semantic Internet will reveal itself as we get past the User Experience, dominant browser and operating systems issues.</p>
<p>In 2004, when Michael was working for <a href="http://www.oracle.com" target="_blank">Oracle</a> in <a title="UK, Reading" href="http://www.oracle.com/global/uk/corporate/locations/reading.html" target="_blank">UK</a> in an Architecture role, he was looking at Java Server Faces, SVG/JavaScript, Laszlo and Royal (which we now know today as Flex 3 ), as part of an internal Desktop Integration research project.&nbsp; Mike was researching a way to express all the goodness of Oracle and E-Business suite in a singular dynamic browser independent way.
<p>Michael could see the coming change to the industry and wanting to be part of the new direction he left <a href="http://www.oracle.com" target="_blank">Oracle</a> and returned to Australia, and established his own company &#8211; the birth of omniEffect.
<p>In 2005/2006 Michael built prototypes and presented to numerous companies in Australia and UK, all focused on expressing data in a way users want to see it.
<p>2007/2008 has really been about the acceptance of <a href="http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/" target="_blank">Adobe Flex</a> / <a title="AIR" href="http://www.adobe.com/products/air/" target="_blank">AIR</a> and now <a title="Microsoft WPF" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Presentation_Foundation" target="_blank">Microsoft WPF</a>/<a title="Silverlight" href="http://www.microsoft.com/Silverlight/" target="_blank">Silverlight</a>, as similar tools for achieving the same thing – which now comes with the catch phrase – “RIA” Rich Internet Applications.&nbsp;
<p>At the end of the day, OE in an information company which <u>accesses</u> creative people, services and products. OE is focused on getting information to people in a way which they can use – regardless of the medium.
<p>Products: Mike built a generic ESB in Java frameworks ( <a title="OE Universal" href="http://www.omnieffect.net/products" target="_blank">OE Universal</a> ) for the purpose of empowering Content Re-appropriation, and in 2005 chose Flex as the singular conduit for putting this information in to people’s hands and target End Points i.e. Systems.
<p>Why? To solve problems faster and to express the outcomes in a meaningful way.
<p>Web Site: <a href="http://www.omnieffect.net">www.omnieffect.net</a> &#8211; it&#8217;s coming, bit like the Death Star in construction using Drupal 6 and Flex 3, keep watching us build something interesting.</p>
<p><a href="http://articles.omnieffect.com/_new/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/windowslivewriterwhyomnieffect-b96dimage-7.png"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="202" alt="image" src="http://articles.omnieffect.com/_new/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/windowslivewriterwhyomnieffect-b96dimage-thumb-2.png" width="240" align="left" border="0"></a> Finally a presentation &#8211; <a href="http://blogs.omnieffect.com/mlwise/files/oe-Universal-Overview-2004.ppt">omniEffect Universal</a> in 2004.&nbsp; Even back Michael had identified the new direction.</p>
<p>&#8230; and something to watch &#8211; <a title="http://www.omnieffect.net/content/introduction-ria-and-oracle-e-business-suite-hrms" href="http://www.omnieffect.net/content/introduction-ria-and-oracle-e-business-suite-hrms">http://www.omnieffect.net/content/introduction-ria-and-oracle-e-business-suite-hrms</a></p>
