postheadericon Why omniEffect ?

image

We get this a bit, but in short (and to avoid long caffeine fuelled discussions), Mike wrote this definition on WikiPedia a while back, and it is really what OE is about: Content Re-appropriation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content re-appropriation. Simply, the Semantic Internet will reveal itself as we get past the User Experience, dominant browser and operating systems issues.

In 2004, when Michael was working for Oracle in UK in an Architecture role, he was looking at Java Server Faces, SVG/JavaScript, Laszlo and Royal (which we now know today as Flex 3 ), as part of an internal Desktop Integration research project.  Mike was researching a way to express all the goodness of Oracle and E-Business suite in a singular dynamic browser independent way.

Michael could see the coming change to the industry and wanting to be part of the new direction he left Oracle and returned to Australia, and established his own company – the birth of omniEffect.

In 2005/2006 Michael built prototypes and presented to numerous companies in Australia and UK, all focused on expressing data in a way users want to see it.

2007/2008 has really been about the acceptance of Adobe Flex / AIR and now Microsoft WPF/Silverlight, as similar tools for achieving the same thing – which now comes with the catch phrase – “RIA” Rich Internet Applications.

At the end of the day, OE in an information company which accesses creative people, services and products. OE is focused on getting information to people in a way which they can use – regardless of the medium.

Products: Mike built a generic ESB in Java frameworks ( OE Universal ) for the purpose of empowering Content Re-appropriation, and in 2005 chose Flex as the singular conduit for putting this information in to people’s hands and target End Points i.e. Systems.

Why? To solve problems faster and to express the outcomes in a meaningful way.

Web Site: www.omnieffect.net – it’s coming, bit like the Death Star in construction using Drupal 6 and Flex 3, keep watching us build something interesting.

image Finally a presentation – omniEffect Universal in 2004.  Even back Michael had identified the new direction.
